Hi, I’m Silas! I am 8 years old, I like art, hockey, and building things. I especially like lego. Recently my dad has let me learn how to play Minecraft, and I love it. I also like Star Wars. Everyone always asks me how I feel about going to Malawi. I say “Excited and sad.”
I say “excited” because we’re moving to a new country! My favourite animal is in Africa: Giraffes. I am also excited to have a new house, to explore a new place, and to learn Chichewa. I was homeschooled this year, but next year I will go back to a Christian school. I am excited to make some new friends. I say “sad” because I’m going to leave my friends and cousins here in Canada, and all my uncles and aunts. I’m also sad because we’re going to leave our house. I love our cul-de-sac and playing hockey in it, so I am sad to leave it behind. I really want to pack some extra hockey sticks and balls so we can teach some Malawian kids street hockey!
The good thing, is that we can Skype our friends and family, and keep in touch with them. I hope I can also send videos and they’ll send videos to me.
I think I’m going to be most surprised by how hot it is there. I don’t really like the heat. Yesterday was only like 18 degrees and I was too hot! It’s going to be so much hotter there!
Please pray for me: that the heat won’t be so bad, that we’ll be able to take hockey sticks, that I’ll make some new friends, that we’ll get lots of visitors from home, and that I will see all my friends when we come back on home assignment!
I love how you share your heart, Silas. We will be praying for you as you go. We’ll pray that God will bring along some special friends to play street hockey in Africa!
